Italian Cinema
The first part of the course “Italian Cinema”consists of watching the trailer for the film selected and the discussion on possible developments of the plot. In order to stimulate conversation about topics covered we will select three of the most significant scenes from the film and show interviews with the actors and reviews made by the most authoritative of Italian critics. For each film there will be allocated specific grammatical work aimed at understanding the exploration of new grammatical structures.Italian film strongly reflects the inclinations of the world language of the street. The language of cinema is a language dynamic, engaging, a language which perfectly represents the evolution of Italian slang.The course will be divided into thematic cycles (Cycle I: Youth and Employment. Cycle II: Campania Stories. Cycle III: Comedy. Cycle IV: Italy) on the history of Italy, love, passion, generational clashes and the difficult cohabitation between the north and south. It is an opportunity to reflect on stereotypes, traditions, customs and most challenging topics such as unemployment and the Camorra.
Course material includes videos, reviews, interviews, grammar fact sheets, transcriptions of dialogues, information on the dialects used in the movie and idiomatic expressions.
